Highly recommend this book. There is a family tree at the beginning of this book which is useful to consult when moving down the generations, but as I am using my kindle to read this, it was difficult having to jump back and forth. A time line of events as well as the family tree would be useful too. No other comments. Highly recommend this book. Family Tree Templates Editable Free, Free Family Tree Templates Editable. 2016-07-22 Homegoing: Family Tree Required Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi got a lot of buzz this year, and for good reason. It's a beautiful and tragic story about family, legacy, loyalty, slavery (in more ways than one), and more things that will make you squirm and think. 2017-05-02 "Homegoing," by Yaa Gyasi The author’s penetrating prose draws intimate and deeply cultivated connections between rival tribes, languages lost and found, real love and a hardness of spirit. And in There is a family tree at the beginning of this book which is useful to consult when moving down the generations, but as I am using my kindle to read this, it was difficult having to jump back and forth. A time line of events as well as the family tree would be useful … In preparation for writing Homegoing, Gyasi created the family tree first, then connected each member of the tree to a historical event as an outline for the novel.

Effia is from Fanteland and marries a British slave FICTION: In an epic novel spanning 300 years, Yaa Gyasi examines the robust roots and indomitable branches of a Ghanaian family tree. The premise of Homegoing may be that it tells the history of two lines of a family tree descended from the same woman. However, the novel really isn’t about that, and it can’t be about that when it becomes impossible for most of the characters to trace their own ancestry.
